Yesterday the Daily Camera published my comments on Medicaid as part of their Virtual Editorial Board (printed version). They summarize my longer piece on Medicaid. I’m happy to note that among those that wrote in, I was not the only one critical of Medicaid.
Better yet, Dave Humphrey and Shirley Scoville of the “real” editorial advisory board ask excellent questions.
Humphrey asks
Why is general health care the responsibility of the federal government at all? Why do the citizens of this country continue to give up their rights?
Scoville asks
Still, it’s easy for many Americans to look to the government and say, “I need, therefore, you need to provide.” With that attitude, where is individual responsibility? If everything is provided by the government, where is the individual’s incentive to get more education or to look for a better job? Also, where does the the family come into play?
Toto, are we in Boulder anymore? If so, I like this part!
I also like editor Clint Talbott’s advocacy of a lower drinking age from last Friday. And while I’m praising the Daily Camera, I also was happy that they published an article by Michael Tanner of the Cato Institute that is critical of Barack Obama.
