FahrenHype 9/11

Just when I thought I had no more respect (to lose) for Michael MooreI saw this film last night. It’s a response to his Fahrenheit 9/11. The CU College Republicans showed it a their meeting, which was interesting itself. I was curious as to whether self-identified College Republicans really liked Bush as President. So I asked a woman who had just picked out a pro-W t-shirt what she liked about him. She could not answer, as if I’d asked her some unanswerable riddle. Then this guy comes up, and I ask again, prefaced by how Bush has grown government, whether student Republicans like that. He said something about how government is supposed to “help people.” Was I at the wrong meeting? Then, before the film, the leaders proposed some clever events/stunts designed, not to show why the implementation of their policy proposals will make the world a better place, but to grab media attention, and even alienate potential GOP voters. This further confirms to me that the two major parties are like competing sports teams, and people pick one to root for, right or wrong. It’s not just the hats and t-shirts, either. Shoot, I know I read an article, somewhere, comparing party affiliation with rooting for a team …
